Alex Cunha is the director of the Center for Image Analysis where he works with students, postdocs, and stakeholders to bring state of the art image processing solutions to biological problems at Caltech and elsewhere. He did his postdoc at the Center for Computational Biology a UCLA, obtained his PhD in Computational Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a MSc in Computer Science from Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil, all after graduating in Civil Engineering and a year flirting with a career in Physics. He is passionate about creating computational methods involving applied mathematics and statistics to help other scientists in their discoveries.
